Honor Leal

Honor Leal,
LicAc, BA (Hons),
I came to acupuncture as a second career, having previously worked as a teacher and translator.  Like most practitioners I studied Chinese medicine as a result of successful treatment of a complaint for which conventional medicine could only offer me (not particularly effective) drugs and acupuncture was very much a last resort in my case.

I graduated with a Lic. Ac. And BA (Hons) degree in acupuncture from the long-established College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa, and the University of Oxford Brookes.  The British Acupuncture Council is my governing body and I am a regular attendee at the regional branch meetings of local acupuncturists.

As well as practising in Weybridge, I work in a drugs and alcohol rehab programme in central London;  acupuncture has proved very effective in detox and this is work that I both enjoy and see the vital need for in society.

In my private practice I see patients of all ages (except the very young) who are looking for an effective and caring form of treatment which respects the individual and does not see the ailment as opposed to the person. My patients have a full range of conditions, such as stress, menstrual / menopausal issues, back problems, insomnia, hayfever, pregnancy / post-natal problems.

We are all aware that acupuncture is becoming much better known and respected  -  even by our colleagues in the medical profession.  However, perhaps the greatest accolade we acupuncturists have received in recent weeks is an endorsement by a character in Radio 4’s ‘The Archers’.  Now I know that we have finally made it!

Linda Smith

I qualified as a Medical Herbalist from the University of Westminster in London with a BSc hons degree in 2006 and am a member of the professional body, the National Institute of Medical Herbalists where I also act as a Support Information Officer for them, providing advice to the public by answering email enquiries.

I practice Herbal Medicine, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage at the Natural Therapies Clinic in Weybridge and also practice as a Herbalist at Botanica Medica in Claygate. I have had a keen interest in complementary medicine for a number of years and qualified in reflexology in 2001, and recently in Indian Head Massage.

I have been told that I have an approachable, friendly manner and I treat all kinds of conditions with tailor-made herbal prescriptions.

I enjoy the ‘hands-on’ experience of growing and collecting herbs and took on an allotment last year where I grow both herbs and vegetables. I am interested in identifying, collecting and eating mushrooms as well as discovering their medicinal properties. I also provide, upon request, talks on herbal medicine or herbal walks to groups or clubs within the community.

Julie Gibbs

Cognitive Hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner.

B.A. (Hons), HPD, Dip C Hyp, M Prac NLP, MNCH (Reg)

I have been fascinated by “what makes people tick” for as long as I can remember, and as a therapist, my greatest pleasure is in seeing people overcome problems to become “more of who they were born to be”. I have spent my adult years acquiring experience and knowledge of both “medical model” and “complementary” approaches to mental and emotional health.

I have worked for more than 25 years as a Psychiatric Social Worker in Hospital, Residential and Community Teams. From 1994 I trained for 4 years in Transpersonal Psychotherapy with the CCPE (Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education), which provided training in a range of therapeutic approaches, including creative visualisation, gestalt etc.

I went on to train in Cognitive Hypnotherapy with the Quest Institute at Regents College, London, qualifying in 2003. The approach taught is highly innovative, incorporating the latest developments in science and psychology. I am now employed by the Quest Institute, on a consultancy basis, assisting on the Diploma Programme.

In addition to my practice here in Weybridge, I also have a hypnotherapy practice at Kingston University (for students and staff) as well as a private practice in Addlestone.
Whilst I can work effectively with a wide range of problems and difficulties, my particular specialism is in working in the areas of anxiety, panic attacks, lack of confidence and phobias..

I understand how important it is to take time to choose the right therapist and the right approach for your problem. I am always happy to have an in depth discussion by phone, prior to arranging an appointment, for which no charge is made. I also offer to make no change for your initial assessment session if, at the end of the session, you feel that this approach is not for you.

You can contact me by phone on 01932 563 877 or 07941 811 780 or by email juliegibbs@hypnotherapists.org
