Counsellor Psychotherapist Banbury Oxon

Why choose to see a counsellor or psychotherapist?
We choose to see a psychotherapist or counsellor when how we feel or what we do stops us enjoying our life and relationships.
This is often prompted by:

  • family problem
  • break up with a partner
  • change or loss of job
  • death of someone close
  • stress
  • issues around sexuality
  • change or loss of  health
  • fertility problems
  • lack of confidence
  • depression

Sometimes it is because we find it hard to make the changes we want to make
  • reducing need for alcohol/drugs
  • dealing with abusive relationships
  • living more healthily

How can psychotherapy or counselling help you?
It is hard to talk about feelings like sadness, anger, fear, hate, loss and helplessness.

Often this is because we are worried about burdening friends and family.

Sometimes we feel ashamed of such difficult feelings, or we feel friends and family are “part of the problem”.

Talking with a psychotherapist can help us better understand our feelings and reactions to things in our life.

Then we can look at how we might make more of those things which are working for us and change the things that are not.

What to do next
Telephone, e-mail, or write to make a first appointment.

What happens at the first session?
At this first meeting, you can talk in more detail about what has brought you. You will get a feel for what it is like to work with a psychotherapist. If you feel comfortable working with me, we will then agree to meet each week at a fixed time.

How long does counselling or psychotherapy take?
If you want a sounding board to help you make sense of your situation and make better choices in life, a few sessions can make a big difference.

If you want to look more deeply at how you come to be as you are and to change how you feel about yourself and the world, the work can take some months.

How much does it cost?
£45 for each 50 minute session.
I see a limited number of clients at concessionary rates.
I can offer early morning or evening sessions, but these are very popular and I may negotiate a premium for them.
