My name is Philomena OHara. I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor located in Moseley, Birmingham. In my work as a psychotherapist I treat my clients with respect and dignity and work in a way that encourages my clients autonomy and well being. Those who:

Experience persistent feelings of stress, anxiety and depression.
Experience relationship difficulties and are repeatedly drawn into unsatisfactory relationships, or have difficulty in sustaining relationships.
Communicate problems of an emotional origin through physical symptoms.
Have difficulty in negotiating and accepting changes in their lives such as bereavement, and other loses, divorce or changes in their work situation.
Experience ongoing feelings of lonliness, futility and unhappiness.

I offer long-term face-to face work

and short term face-to-face work.

About Me
My background is in education. I have a number of years of clinical experience and work in private practice and in an organizationalsetting. I provide face to face counselling and psychotherapy for individuals. I offer long term and short term work and work with a wide range of issues. I have experience in working with adults of different ages, gender, culture and background.

What to expect
I offer an intitial assessment session to determine the suitability of the work for you. The assessment session can last from an hour to an hour and a half, thereafter each session lasts 50 minutes. In a secure setting you can explore difficult and painful feelings and expereiences. Together we reflect on your response to life events and explore the way which you relaate to yourself and others. I will not tell you what to do or give you advice, but will help you to acquire new understanding to make your own choices and move forward in your life.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the p;rinciple that problems and distress in the present may be related to earlier experiences. In gaining an understanding of these, it can help you to develop your own choices and way forward.

Appointments
Day or evening sessions
There is an initial Assessment session of one and half hours duration. (Fee £45)

Fees thereafter usually £35 per session

A session is 50 mins.

All these arrangements can be disscussed at your initial assessment.
