How I work
I provide Person Centred counselling and psychotherapy. This approach has been used by therapists since the 1940s and has developed over the years. The approach believes that as human beings we will always move towards fulfilling our potential when provided with the right environment in which therapeutic conditions can be experienced. Research has proved the effectiveness of Person Centred counselling and it continues to be one of the most popular ways of working today.

The Person Centred approach focuses on communicating the core conditions of empathy, acceptance and genuineness. By doing this, clients are given what is considered to be the appropriate environment to explore their thoughts and feelings, and feel more able to work towards fulfilling their potential.

Unlike many others, this approach does not rely on tools or techniques. It focuses on building a warm, professional and therapeutic relationship in which you lead and the counsellor facilitates.

As a Person Centred counsellor and psychotherapist I believe that you are the expert in your own internal world and that you are the only person who knows how you truly feel. I am honest and genuine in the way I work and do not provide answers or give quick fixes.  If there are any answers I believe that they lie within you, and that my role is to provide the right environment for you to feel more able to access your own internal resources. I only work with what you decide to bring to counselling.

In essence, the counselling is your journey, you are the driver and I am the passenger.


Where I work
Counselling sessions take place at Upper Basinghall Street in the centre of Leeds. The premises are located a ten minute walk away from Leeds train station, and five minutes from the Headrow. Parking is available in the Light Complex and  directions are available on request.

Fees
£45 per 50 minute session.
