About acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe and powerful treatment that helps to improve health and restore natural balance on a physical, emotional and mental level. It can be used from people of all ages, from babies to elderly people. It is also safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding and is particularly useful during pregnancy to prepare for an easier labour without complications.

Acupuncture is a complementary therapy, meaning that it works alongside conventional medicine and supplements rather than replaces medical care by your doctor. It is a holistic treatment; therefore it addresses the individual as a whole rather than treating isolated symptoms or illnesses. This approach is very important in complementary health practice, so please contact me in order to discuss your very own unique health concerns.

How long will it take?
The outcome of an acupuncture treatment depends on the strength of the individual’s immune system and on how chronic (or acute) and severe the problem is. Often patients experience an immediate improvement while others start to feel better after a few regular treatments. Some factors that affect this response are complexity and depth of the condition in combination with age and medical history.

How do needles feel like?
The needles I use are Japanese type, extra fine and of the highest quality to avoid unnecessary side effects. However, if you are not fond of needles you can ask to be treated with the other techniques available such as acupressure, moxibustion or Shiatsu that do not involve penetration of the skin.
In paediatric acupuncture, special tools are often used to stimulate points without penetrating the skin (Japanese non-invasive acupuncture). There is no danger of cross infection as the needles are strictly single-use, sterile and disposable.

Facial acupuncture
This form of cosmetic treatment uses ancient oriental medical wisdom to make you look naturally radiant. It gives a healthy glow to your face and makes you look younger, in the most natural possible way, by increasing the local blood circulation and addressing the underlying conditions.
