Olga Rice Nutritionist
My name is Olga Rice, I hold a diploma in naturopathic nutrition from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (London). I am a member of British Association of Nutritional Therapists and abide by their code of ethics and practice.
Nutritional therapy is a comprehensive health care system which aims to treat causal factors of ill health & imbalances. It treats them with the help of personalised eating regime, targeted nutritional supplements, changes in lifestyle. Biochemical imbalances which are often the cause of many chronic, degenerative diseases can be treated with the nutritional therapy.
Conditions that respond well to nutritional therapy:
• Digestive disorders: constipation, diarrhoea, Candida, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcers, colitis • Hormonal imbalances: PMT, menopausal symptoms, endometriosis, fibroids, polycystic ovaries, inability to get pregnant • Allergies and food intolerances • Weight loss as well as gain • Blood sugar imbalances: sugar cravings, lack of energy, hypoglycaemia • Cardio-vascular disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, prevention of and recovery from strokes and heart attacks • Depression • Immune dysfunction: sore throats, frequent colds, auto-immune disease • Skin conditions: eczema, psoriasis, acne • Muscular-skeletal conditions: arthritis, osteoporosis, muscle cramps • Childhood illnesses: hyperactivity, ADHD, learning difficulties, autism • General lack of energy and vitality
Successful therapy normally requires at least 3 consultations, if the condition is chronic, it might require more consultations and ongoing support.
An initial consultation, typically lasting 1-1 ½ hours would involve the following: - A review of the patients' medical history - Detailed discussion of the patients' current state of health, diet and lifestyle - Discussion of what the patient hopes to achieve - Agreeing a treatment plan which will include recommendations for dietary changes, lifestyle changes - Appropriate nutritional supplements - Some tests could be recommended to help diagnose potential imbalances. - Follow-up consultation lasts about 30-45 minutes and will be 3-4 weeks after starting the treatment plan. - This will review progress and allows the opportunity to make any amendments that may be necessary.
