My special approach to homeopathyI use several different methods, depending on the individual patient’s needs. This gives me more scope to deal with complicated conditions such as eczema, asthma and thyroid complaints. My approach to homeopathy is therefore best called “practical”, as my first aim is to adjust my treatments to the patient concerned.
One particular method I use is especially good for avoiding aggravations so commonly experienced in alternative medicine. This is an area of expertise that lets me stand out amongst other practitioners.
A third benefit my patients experience is that once they have registered with me, they can ask my advice during any acute illness they may go through such as influenza or urinary tract infections. I will encourage my patients to purchase an emergency kit from a homeopathic pharmacy of their choice so that any remedy that I recommend during such an emergency/acute illness will be at hand. Any remedy not in the kit may be picked up from my doorstep at any time.
This service is particularly beneficial for parents with young children who may for instance suddenly develop a high fever in the early evening. I will be available to speak, advise on and prepare remedies for pick-up 7 days a week from 9am till 10pm to help any parent through the fever or infection of their child.
This approach helps to reduce the need for Calpol and antibiotics dramatically.
My special approach to NutritionI stand out from other practitioners in that I have tried and learnt from my own mistakes in many ways. My own dietary history includes vegetarian, raw-food only, fruitarian and vegan. I have tried the blood-group diet, the hay diet and food combining, as well as low GI diets. After all this I have come to some very different conclusions to most other nutritionists.
I do not advocate the routine use of wholegrains, soya or pulses and I do not recommend supplements unless they are absolutely indicated by deficiencies or a specific imbalance or toxicity. I believe that the heavy use of supplements beyond correcting a deficiency is just another form of addiction appearing amongst us.
My approach is to establish a “healthy balance” where my patients eat more healthy foods than unhealthy ones, on a daily basis. This includes reducing toxin intake, balancing environmental pollution with anti-oxidant rich foods, eating the best balance of the traditional food groups and boosting natural defences by increasing the intake of fresh natural foods.
Occasionally, I will recommend functional tests such as hormone tests or stool analysis which can be done at a walk-in laboratory in town. These tests are sometimes necessary to confirm an underlying condition that I may suspect from presenting symptoms of my client.
Whenever necessary, I will always refer my patients back to have further medical tests with a medical doctor, and cooperation with medical doctors and specialists will be guaranteed at all times.
About meI have more than 10 years experience in the field of alternative/complementary medicine. I began my nutritional training at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), but after passing the first year with distinction decided to change to a more wholistic approach that was taught by Dr Lawrence Plaskett at the Plaskett College for Nutritional Medicine (now at Thames Valley University). I achieved my Diploma in Nutritional Therapeutics with distinction and began practicing in Hammersmith. After the birth of my son I found that I needed a therapy that allowed me to treat his occasional fevers and teething issues and so began my interest in homeopathy. I trained for four years at the Centre for Homeopathic Education and graduated as a Licentiate of the Centre for Homeopathic Education and with a BSc hons from Middlesex University. I now practice in Wimbledon and help many people to improve their health naturally.
