Psychotherapy/Counselling & Hypnotherapy - What To ExpectStudies show that the relationship with the therapist is the single most important factor for successful therapy. It is important to feel safe and comfortable in order to be able to trust and confide problems. Only then, will benefits be apparent.
Your first session will be different from future visits. The initial visit is where together we, develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, identify how these problems affect your thoughts, behaviours, feelings and daily functioning, identify goals and agree a treatment plan. The first session is also about getting to know each other (establishing a rapport) and a better understanding of where to proceed. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature.
Keep in mind that psychotherapy is a long-term process, so don't expect any instant solutions to your problems the first day. Therapy is about equipping you with life-long solutions rather than a 'quick fix'.
Including the initial session, all sessions last for 60 minutes. Sessions can be arranged for weekly, fortnightly and monthly, however, this will very much depend on your specific needs and will be discussed and agreed at the first session.

About Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy
How can psychotherapy help? Two common concerns for most people when they feel the need to consult a professional about themselves are, 'will the problem be put right? And 'will I be treated well?'
The majority of people discover that therapy can provide an opportunity to gain insight and understanding about their feelings and ways of behaving which opens the way towards:
- Improved relationships
- The ability to make clearer choices
- Develop their own potential in life
What is hypnosis? The world of hypnosis is often perceived as a strange and mysterious one. The truth is very different. Hypnosis is a very simple and naturally occurring process or state. To get an idea of how hypnosis actually works, consider two alternative states of mind - the first one is when your thoughts are occupied with what is going on in a very conscious way, in other words, you are very aware of what you are thinking. The second state is one in which things are running automatically. You are thinking about things but perhaps aren't consciously aware of what you are thinking. This is the state in which decisions are made which affect your beliefs and your emotions. Hypnosis, used properly and professionally is simply a way of helping you make the right decisions and develop the right beliefs for you, thereby helping you to 'feel' better and to get better day to day results.
