Mark Arram Counselling Southwark, South London
About Me I am a gentle, alert counsellor who invites you, the client, to unburden whatever it is that is bothering you, both long term or more recent, in a sensitive counselling space. From my experience as a counsellor, I am finding that many problems can be solved through the development of a trusting counselling relationship - between me the counsellor and you, the client; rather than any particular strategy, that may work in the short term, but over time, may get absorbed in the very problem it was meant to initially solve. Stammering is a good example of this, where strategies for dealing with stammering in the end become part of the stammering process.
I was drawn to counselling from my own complicated family I grew up in. The product, in part, of divorced parents, I developed as a teenager with more than one story about my family. It was hard for me to know where the truth actually was and at times I felt I was being tested as to which story I had to agree with. If I agreed with one, then that meant I was forced to reject the other ( parent ). This psychological conditioning led me in the end to reject my family and set out, not always consciously, to find out what was true for me as an individual.
I readily relate this to my counselling work now. My clients want to find out what is best for them, to be able to live life positively, confidently...Often stories of our past, what we were told was true by our parents turn out to be burdens we have to drop on the way to becoming more fulfilled adults.
What To Expect The counselling I offer is primarily concerned with allowing you the freedom to let go of the stories of the past and enjoy being in the present. The results of this are that you may feel much freer and able to operate in your relationships from a clearer heart.
This process is achieved very simply. By noticing the feelings and thoughts that come up without heavily judging them, or punishing oneself for thinking something that internally feels ' not allowed ' you may begin to become less attached to the emotional density that has kept you pinned down, depressed or just plain unhappy...
Packages and prices Initial hour consultation: where we find out what kind of counselling you need. Cost: £60.
Choice of counselling: I offer a three session programme for people who are very busy and feel they won't be able to commit to long term work.
This work is goal specific, for example, providing strategies for stress busting or confidence when speaking in public, work presentations etc.
I also work with clients whose difficulties are centered around their relationships, past and present, their sense of who they think they are and esteem issues that arise from this. This work is more long term, from 6 months to two years. The price for long term counselling is £40 for a session. A session lasts for approximately 55 minutes. Opening hours/available days: I work from 5 - 8 every evening, Monday to Friday. 10am - 2pm Wednesday 10am - 2pm Thursday
