ABOUT THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE

The Bowen Technique is a gentle but powerful therapy, considered appropriate for anyone from pregnant women to newborn babies, the frail and elderly.
During a treatment the therapist uses set procedures involving small, gentle 'moves' across muscles and soft tissue, followed by frequent pauses. The pauses allow the body time to respond and begin the healing process. During the pauses, the therapist will leave the area for a short period of time. These 'moves' initiate a series of beneficial changes throughout the body that may continue for several days.
The technique addresses not only the musculoskeletal framework, but also the fascia, nerves and internal organs. The body's integrated response improves circulation and lymphatic drainage and aids in the assimilation of nutrients and elimination of toxins.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
One of the major differences between the Bowen Technique and other therapies, is the speed at which some conditions can often respond. Many sport or work related injuries will respond within two or three treatments but even long-standing conditions have been known to be resolved after a few treatments. Obviously there are cases requiring longer term treatment and results will depend on many factors, but in general you won't be needing treatments week after week for many months

Reflexology is a specific pressure technique that works on precise reflex points on the feet, based on the premise that reflex areas on the feet correspond with all the parts of the body. Firm but comfortable pressure is applied to the different reflex areas. When an imbalance is detected, that specific reflex point is worked on for a longer period, causing physiological changes to take place in the body by stimulating the body's own healing potential.
Reflexology helps to balance all the body systems, stimulating an underactive area and calming an overactive one. It is harmless to those areas that are functioning correctly. Reflexology works particularly well on three specific levels - physiological, psychological and spiritual

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
This of course depends on the nature of the problem, but normally five treatments will see and effect. Many clients enjoy a monthly 'top-up' to keep their bodies balanced and also for relaxation.
