Why try reflexology?

Whether you're a busy mum or business woman, 20 or 70 one thing we all need more of is time to relax and de-stress.
The benefits of reflexology treatments are both simple and complex at the same time.

Simple
because the treatment itself is a simple technique which for most people results in a deep feeling of relaxation. This in itself is beneficial. If for no other reason than this it's well worth trying!

Complex because this same relaxation produces effects within the brain and body which can have a profound effect on your health and well-being.

What to expect during the Reflexology treatment:-

First treatments always include time for discussing your medical history as it pertains to your reason for seeking treatment. There are a few medical conditions which are not suitable for treatment but these will be discussed at the first appointment.

Shoes and socks are removed for foot treatments. Apart from this you remain fully clothed - the main requirement is that you are comfortable. I bring along a reclining chair similar to the one below which can be setup in a downstairs room. If you have your own recliner and would prefer to use it - that's perfectly fine. Once you are seated comfortably and wrapped in a blanket for warmth the recliner position is adjusted so that the legs are elevated and the treatment begins.

The particular type of reflexology technique I use is a gentle to firm pressure applied with the end of the thumb or fingers rather than a massage. Both feet will be massaged in turn. If any tender areas are noticed then these will be gone over again as they are taken as an indication that the flow of energy is disrupted at that point.

Your feet reflect the general state of health of your body at any particular time. But please note it isn't possible to diagnose illnesses from treatment.

What to expect after treatment:-

The aim of the treatment is to balance your body and activate your natural inbuilt healing systems.

Sometimes after a treatment clients report feeling tired, headachy or mention having to go to the toilet more often than normal - similar to the type of reaction you might have if you were coming down with the cold for example. This type of reaction is more often experienced after a first treatment and for that reason I normally give a slightly lighter first treatment if the client has never had a complementary therapy before. More often though you will not feel anything apart from being more relaxed and hopefully having a better night's sleep.

After treatment you should take it easy for the rest of the day and keep up your fluid intake (within sensible limits) to get the maximum benefit from the treatment. It is important after treatment not to drink lots of coffee or tea but to replace this with water or dilute juice.

As many of the conditions treated build up over a long period we hope to see an improvement over a period of a few weeks. You shouldn't expect instantaneous results.

It's not possible to predict whether or not treatment will result in improvement or not - the only way is to try it & see.

How to book a Reflexology appointment:

Please ring 0770 49 49 361 and leave a message or email loganberry@btconnect.com for an appointment.

I'm happy to take bookings for single treatments especially if you're not sure whether or not you will enjoy it. There's no obligation to book a course of treatments. Having said that I do think its beneficial to have three or four treatments in total with the first couple at weekly intervals particularly if you're having treatment to alleviate a health condition e.g. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, eczema, hormonal headaches.

Within this time frame you should begin to see an improvement if reflexology is going to be of help. Naturally it isn't possible to guarantee that treatment will help with your particular health condition but the majority of clients do find the treatments themselves are enjoyable and leave you with a feeling of well-being.
