Kinni Kansara Counselling Barnet, Hertfordshire
About Me My name is Kinni and I am an experienced counsellor having qualified in 1990 with a Certificate and Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. I have practiced as a counsellor in various organisations and in private practice. I have also provided counselling supervision within organisations and to individuals. I have worked with clients in dealing with a broad range of issues resulting from traumatic life experiences and have supported them in their personal change process. My approach to counselling is to provide a safe healing environment and by showing understanding, being consistent and non-judgemental, sincere, sensitive and intuitive, clients find the space to explore a range of personal emotions and experiences at their own pace. This approach allows clients to engage with a personal change process that supports them in learning about themselves, their strengths, areas they want to develop as well as accepting personal limitations. In this respect, counselling aims to be self-empowering.
I am an Asian woman and I welcome working with people of all backgrounds; ethnicity, mixed heritage, gender, sexuality, religion, age and ability.
I am an Associate Member of the BACP and abide by its Code of Ethics.
I have many years experience of working with women and girls who are survivors of violence and childhood abuse, young people under stress and people whose lives have been touched by adoption or separation from family of birth. I am experienced and knowledgeable regarding working with issues of adoption, identity, searching, grief and loss, trans-racial adoptions, inter-country adoptions, relationships, infertility, separation and divorce, low self esteem, low self-confidence, weight problems and body image, depression, anger management, parenting, bullying, eating disorders, self-harm, Post Traumatic Stress, work related issues, stress and anxiety.
Counselling Arrangements and Fees I welcome initial enquiries by phone and am happy to discuss any questions you may have about whether counselling is right for you. I can be contacted between 9.30am and 7.30pm.
If you decide that you would like an initial meeting, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the counselling process and whether this will meet your needs. If you feel that you do want to go ahead with the counselling and we feel that we can work together then we will need to consider whether your needs are for short term or long term counselling. We will also explore what your goals are within counselling. I work in a way that allows for regular reviews so that it is flexible to your needs as well as for assessing the extent to which counselling has been helpful. Counselling normally takes place on a weekly basis, at a regular day and time. Overtime, if needed this can be re-negotiated. Counselling sessions normally last for 1 hour.
My fees are between £25.00 and £45.00. This can be negotiated taking into account income levels and frequency of counselling required.
Cancellations I require 48 hours notice for cancellations, otherwise cancellations must be paid for. If you wish to rearrange your appointment instead, this is fine and you will pay for the rearranged session only.
Location I am based in Colindale, NW London within easy reach for drivers and users of public transport. Colindale tube station is on the Northern line and is 10 minutes away. Nearby buses (2min to 10 min walk) include 32, 142, 204, 303, 305. I am easily accessible from Kilburn, Cricklewood, Kingsbury, Queensbury, Edgware, Hendon, Golders Green, Burnt Oak, Camden Town, Kentish Town, Chalk Farm, Belsize Park, St. John’s Wood, Brent Cross, Stanmore, Mill Hill, Wembley, Bushey, Watford, Radlett, Elstree, Borehamwood and the A41, A406 and A5
Confidentiality All personal information will be treated confidentially and respectfully.
