About Me
My treatments are designed to promote healing and not just reduce pain., in order to allow injured tissues to repair it is essential that undue stress and strain is reduced. This requires the specialist skills and experience that I have worked hard to acquire. I have now worked in private practice for over ten years and three years ago moved to larger better equipped premises on Ecclesall Road, the clinic has wheelchair access and a car park. Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists have extensive training in understanding how the body is designed to work and more importantly how it is designed to heal following an injury. At the initial assessment of a patient the physiotherapist listens carefully to what the causes of the injury were and then looks and feels how the body moves to establish which tissues are causing the pain and what treatment is required to facilitate the body to heal optimally. As experts in rehabilitation we help people progressively regain pain free movement, restore muscle strength and ultimately return to work or sporting activities. Educating people to understand their own bodies allows them to be fully engaged in the treatment process, and provides helpful insights to prevent further injury and improve sports performance.

Physiotherapy often includes some of the following elements:

• Soft tissue treatments to reduce painful inflammation of tendons, ligaments and muscles.
• Joint mobilisation and manipulation to restore mobility of stiff joints and therefore reduce the strain on adjacent tissues.
• Longwave Ultrasound is used to reduce painful muscle spasm and improve lymphatic drainage.
• Acupuncture can be used to reduce pain and activate the bodies healing processes.
• Exercise and rehabilitation programs help people to regain movement, strength and be able to return work, sport or other recreational activities.
