ABOUT ME I have worked in a wide range of settings, over 30 years, including Health, Education, a range of charities, Hospice environments, and, Private Practice. I have qualified in a wide range of therapies. Underlying all of these is a fundamental belief in our human right to live a life which is fulfilled and joyful. I completely believe that we all have the potential to achieve this. Our lives are a journey, and we are able to choose the paths leading toward wholeness. Our thought patterns, reactions to life and events, to relationships with others, enable us to tell our story, to reveal the next steps on our journey.
At any stage of life, our direction can be changed. I have a deep interest and belief in the importance of life at every stage, and especially, who we become at difficult, traumatic stages of life, as well as how we prepare to leave our life, when our journey is ending.
HYPNOTHERAPY Hypnotherapy can be used for a wide range of conditions and difficulties, from allowing release from addictions such as smoking and food related issues, to deeper traumas related to our past or present.
The effects of Hypnotherapy are profound and far reaching. You experience a deep sense of relaxation and ease whilst remaining completely in control at all times. Working in this way allows the therapist to access our unconscious mind. This layer of our thinking is mostly inaccessible throughout our normal thinking and awareness. It is our unconscious mind which often acts to keep us stuck and in distress, repeating negative thought patterns, leading to a sense of frustration and powerlessness. Through the use of Hypnotherapy, our learnt responses to daily life, as well as our overall sense of self, can be accessed, allowing change to take place at a deep level and in a profound, on-going way.
PSYCHOTHERAPY Psychotherapy allows us to explore our thought patterns, belief systems and behaviours at every layer of our lives. Exploring our core self, peeling back the layers of our being, allows us to recognise and understand why our lives are as they are.why we repeat patterns of behaviour that we are so clearly and painfully aware of, why we experience relationships as difficult, stuck, and lacking in fulfillment, as well as, which events or stages of our lives have led to this point.
This journey can be challenging, bringing our well established defences to the fore, but can also be joyful and exciting in the moments when we glimpse new potential, and a sense of truly seeing and feeling how life can be.
My belief as a therapist is that for each of us, our individuality, our sense of who we are, our desire to change and grow, should play a central role in therapy. My way of working is to offer individually approached therapy. Therapy which combines both Psychotherapy, and Hypnotherapy if needed, but also Healing and spirituality in its widest sense. The journey of therapy can allow us to heal and grow on all levels of our being, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
My belief is that our mind, body and spirit intertwine to produce our way of being. Any crisis or difficulty has the potential to damage or delay aspects of our being and our consequent enjoyment and fulfillment in life. For us to grow and to be the very real self we were destined to be, all layers of self need to be healed.
Together this journey is possible. Sessions offer caring, supportive insights. I offer a total committment to supporting you whilst you embark on the most important journey possible, to discover our true self and to be that self in its fullest sense. To live a life that offers love, joy, fulfillment and success at every level.
THE THERAPY ENVIRONMENT I am fortunate to work from a beautiful therapy centre in Bristol, The Pierian Centre. The centre is an oasis of calm in the heart of Bristol, easily accessible by all routes. I offer a relatively open ended way of working. The sessions are very much led by individual need. This can be a single, focused session, 6 weekly blocks, or extended to a length as determined by individual need. I am very happy to discuss this as part of the initial session, as well as at regular review points throughout therapy.
Sessions are normally 50 minutes weekly, but this can be reviewed if necessary. I offer a free exploratory session, giving opportunity to ask any questions you may have. There is no obligation to continue with therapy at any point.
I currently charge £35 per session but also offer concessions for a range of situations. My belief is that therapy should be accessible and possible for everyone. If you have concerns about funding please feel able to discuss this.
I am very happy to discuss any aspect of the above prior to the initial exploratory session and welcome this
