Gillian is a fully qualified and UKCP registered psychotherapist and counsellor.  She practices in London and Surrey and provides inidividual and couples psychotherapy to adults and also adolescents.  Her work covers a wide range of psychological and emotional issues.  Her interactive approach seeks to question assumptions and core beliefs to asist individuals to face up to the challenges of life and find greater happiness and fulfilment.

Individuals seek psychotherapy for a wide range of reasons, some for depression, others suffer from anxiety or anxiety-related disorders such as panic attacks, while others may come to her to work on relationships issues arising within the home and/or workplace. Gillian also counsels clients who have faced a major crisis in their lives, perhaps as a result of illness, death or redundancy. 

In some cases, clients are less clear as to why they need counselling, except for a nagging feeling that their life has become a daily struggle and is ultimately unrewarding. This may lead to an exploration of issues relating to self-worth and what gives meaning to their life. 

At various stages in our lives, we a reach cross-roads that can be very paralysing and frightening. With the benefit of therapy, these situations can lead to personal growth and to a different and more fulfilling way of living each day. Both open-ended and time-limited therapy offer an opportunity to explore personal issues, thus allowing the individual to move on with their life and not be immobilised at times of crisis. Whatever the length of the therapeutic encounter, some growth and change will take place, thus assisting  the client to move forward.

At the heart of a good therapeutic encounter is the relationship that the client and therapist forge. The stronger this alliance, the more beneficial the process is likely to be.
