Frances Bavin Nutritional Therapy Edinburgh

I am Frances Bavin, a Nutritional Therapist based at two studios in central Edinburgh; Health for Life and David Calder Studio.

I see people from all walks of life who have an enormous variety of reasons for coming to see me. Good nutrition is something we all need to keep us healthy and to prevent future problems and in my opinion, should be the first port of call when addressing any ailment. I typically see clients from all over Edinburgh and the surrounding areas of Livingston, Dunfermline, Haddington, Granton, Duddingston and Morningside.

Who Can Benefit?
I may be biased but I firmly believe that anyone can benefit.  Even when someone thinks they have a healthy diet, often it can be improved upon, and sometimes just the smallest of alterations can have some impressive results.

Conditions that respond well to nutritional therapy include;
  • Digestive issues
  • Period pains
  • Headaches
  • Candida
  • Weight management
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Energy levels
  • Blood sugar issues
  • Skin problems
  • Fatigue

About Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional Therapists treat the person, rather than the symptom and work from a holistic perspective.

We believe that giving the body the appropriate help through dietary and lifestyle changes, that it has the ability to heal itself.  Often professional quality supplements are recommended to achieve even better results.

In cases of chronic illness where medication is involved, nutrition can be used alongside to further alleviate symptoms and improve health.  In some situations, medication can be reduced when the diet is improved.

About Me
Through dealing with my own health problems I came to learn about the power of nutrition, about how a bad diet will eventually catch up with you and how prevention is better than cure!  I feel passionate about helping others learn and make changes in this area of their life, which in turn has an impact on the rest of their life!

I trained at the CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine).   I am also a member of BANT, am fully insured and regularly attend ongoing training to further deepen my knowledge.

What to Expect

First consultations last about 1 hour and involve a very thorough look at your case history.  Before I see people I encourage them to keep a food diary for several days to get an accurate picture of the diet and also to fill out a questionnaire so that the appointment itself is as focussed as possible.  In this session we will pinpoint your primary concerns and begin by taking steps towards tackling these.

Follow up appointments are advisable as this is where we track progress and hone in on possible deeper rooted problems.  It is also helpful to have ongoing support to keep you on track and keep you motivated.

Tests are sometimes used to confirm suspected problems and prices start at reasonable levels.  These are always optional.
