About MeHi, my name is Gemma Kariuki and I am a qualified Holistic Aromatherapist. I recently qualified in July 2010 at the Penny Price school of aromatherapy. I am also a member of the AAPA (Aromatherapy and Allied Practitioners Association).
Holistic means 'whole' so a holistic treatment is one that treats the whole person and aromatherapy uses essential oils from plants, flowers and leaves that have particular therapeutic properties. The main way that these treatments are administered are in the form of massage, but treatments can also include steam inhalations, creams and bath blends which are made up to suit your individual needs. Massage can help on many levels from the physical and mental to the emotional and spiritual. With people leading 'stressful' lives these days, massage and aromatherapy can benefit in so many ways.

Consultations As I am a holistic Aromatherapist, it is important for me to know a little bit about you before starting a treatment. This is so I can get a general picture about you and choose the appropriate oils for the treatment. Some questions about medical history and general lifestyle will be asked and this will take around 10-15 minutes, this is only required for NEW clients.
Treatments - Full Body Massage 1hr 30mins - £40
- Back Massage 25 mins -£19
- Back, Neck and Shoulders 40 mins - £25
- Facial 20 mins - £22
- Steam Inhalation, Hot /Cold Compresses and Foot Massage all £15 for 15 mins
Blends and creams can be made up for you to take home to suit your individual needs and these are priced separately.
Consultations are required before treating each new client and this takes around 10-15 minutes. This is so I can find out a bit about your medical history and general lifestyle so I can use the appropriate essential oils.
Aftercare Advice - Drink plenty of water and herbal infusion teas to help flush out toxins
- Rest as much as possible to aid the healing process
- Avoid heavy meals, refined and processed foods can add to the toxicity in the body and hinder healing
- Do not shower, bath, or swim directly after treatment for 6-8 hours, as the oils need to penetrate the skin for optimum results
- Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight and do not use sunbeds for up to 24 hours after the treatment with photo-toxic oils. You will have been advised if these have been used
