What to expect
When you contact me I will get back to you as soon as possible.  I offer a free initial appointment; Research shows that the key element in successful therapy is the relationship between therapist. The initial session offers you the chance to tell me about the issues that you are bringing into therapy, and also gives us both the chance to decide whether we wish to embark on counselling or therapy together.

Subsequent sessions cost £45 per hour.  Group therapy costs less.

I have a wealth of experience in treating severe and less severe difficulties, having worked in Mental Health and in Criminal Justice agencies. A list of specific conditions can be found below.


About me
I qualified as a Psyhchotherapist specialising in Transactional Analysis in 1997 after 5 years of training.  I am also an experienced mental health worker, and have worked as a Probation Officer, Social Worker, and with community groups.

Since qualifying as a Psychotherapist I have trained as a Supervisor and Trainer of Psychotherapists, and continue with my own training and development. I work with individuals, couples, and groups.  I offer daytime and evening slots, mainly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. My normal charge is £45 per hour, and I have limited spaces at a reduced rate.


Therapies offered
I offer individual, couple, and group therapy.
I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as my core theory, and use tools and ideas from other approaches. I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique, which speeds up treatment of some conditions.  I also use the approach of Family Constellations, which believes that unresolved issues in past generations can impact us in the present.


General
I have been an accredited Psychotherapist since 1997, have over thirty years experience in the helping professions, particularly in the mental health field. My Psychotherapy and Counselling practice is based in South Manchester, within easy reach of motorway networks. People come for counselling and therapy when they are too uncomfortable to manage things alone.  The issues that bring people range from relationship difficulties to severe childhood trauma.  My approach is to match the therapy to the needs of the client, and we decide together how we will work.
