About Me- Counselling Swansea I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their Code of Ethics. I use several different counselling theories including, Person Centred Counselling, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic. I also use other psychological approaches including Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This is a model of communication that focuses on identifying and using patterns of thought that influence a person’s behaviour, as a means of improving the quality and effectiveness of their lives.
I also use Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), this is the same principle as acupuncture but without the needles, and is done by a tapping process, which focuses on the meridian points on the body. This is excellent for emotional, psychological and physical problems. I currently work for the Probation Service with nearly seven years experience as an accreditatored tutor, running Cognitive Behavioural Programmes with offenders; the programmes I run are Enhanced Thinking Skills, Thinking Skills Programme, Drink Impaired Driving, Substance and Alcohol programme and Control of Violence for Angry Impulsive Drinkers.
Central to my practise is the belief that my clients need to experience their growing sense of self in a facilitating environment, which promotes their emotional, psychological and physiological well-being. For this reason, I want my clients to feel safe, valued and accepted. I approach their problems in an empathic, concerned and genuine way that is non-judgemental. Counselling is not advice or a means by which I provide solutions or answers. It is more a therapeutic process through which I help another by purposeful conversation in a safe, trusting, supportive, understanding, non-judgemental environment, where diversity and uniqueness are recognised. Within mutually agreed boundaries (Contract), I facilitate self-awareness and understanding through insight to enable clients to become more consciously aware of what is happening in their lives, then empowered to face problems more objectively, giving direction towards to a better quality of life.
Prices I charge £35 per one-hour session and am available both day and early evening including weekends.
