Sports, Remedial & Deep Tissue Massage offers benefits to all of us; whether to overcome a sporting injury or to deal with chronic muscular tension. The latter is a symptom of life and particularly affects the neck and shoulders. By focusing on your individual needs and tailoring your sports, remedial & deep tissue massage accordingly, I work to relax your tense, overworked muscles to bring relief from pain. This focused, deep massage will help stimulating repair, increase your energy and help prevent soft tissue injury. My Essex practice is based in Stock which is about 2 miles from Billericay and situated on the outskirts of Chelmsford. My clients come from the many surrounding villages and towns including: Baddow, Brentwood, Broomfield, Danbury, Dunmow, Galleywood and Ingatestone

What To Expect

I hope, like me, you view your visit as entering into a partnership. When visiting for the first time, I will ask you to fill in a medical history form to check for any contra-indications. Any concerns you have will be discussed.  We will discuss any pain or stiffness that you may feel and its history. Through listening and observing I will formulate your individualised treatment plan using the appropriate massage techniques.

Where appropriate, I will ask you to undress to your underwear and remove all jewellery. I will instruct you whether to lie on your front, back or side or sit on the couch and will give you towels to cover your self.  I may need you to change position several times during treatment.

I use lotion as a lubricant but so as I may reach the deeper soft tissue, not too much is needed. Depending on your condition, I will use various massage techniques to release tension and tightness in the muscles and break down painful adhesions and scar tissue. Some techniques may be a little uncomfortable but most people describe it as a 'welcoming pain'. Throughout I will work within your pain threshold. Of course, your massage treatment will be interspersed with pleasant and relaxing strokes. There will be areas that will benefit from stretching.  Sometimes I do this without your input (passively) but often it is helpful for you to actively control the stretch.

It is not uncommon to feel a little sore immediately after treatment but you should feel increased mobility around your problem area and also a sense of well being. Sleep should be particularly pleasant after a massage. I always advise you to drink plenty of water, refrain from alcohol for the rest of the day and not to eat too heavy a meal. A warm shower or bath is also recommended. For best results you may need more than one treatment.

By using an infra red healing lamp which accelerates healing, the soreness often felt soon after treatment is minimised.  However, it is not uncommon to feel a little sore a day or 2 after treatment but you should feel increased mobility around your problem area and also a sense of well being. Sleep should be particularly pleasant after a massage. I always advise that you should try and rest after the massage, drink plenty of water, refrain from alcohol for the rest of the day and not to eat too heavy a meal. A warm shower or bath is also recommended. Remember, you body has been stimulated into healing itself.  For best results you may need more than one treatment.

About Me
I am a fully qualified and accredited massage therapist located near Chelmsford. I am constantly updating my knowledge, techniques and skills with many workshops. I also hold a Diploma in Clinical Nutrition. I have a broad base of clients from dancers and athletes to gardeners. I recently had the honour of being selected as the sports massage therapist for the visiting Australian women's cricket team.

Nutritional Advice
Optimum nutrition affects both our physical and mental ability and health.  Hence I have studied clinical nutrition to a diploma level 4.  In spite of following a reasonably healthy diet, there may be small changes that we can make to achieve better nutrition without sacrificing our enjoyment of food.

If you would like an overview of your existing diet and suggestions as to how you might improve it, I would be happy to help.

My Clients
My clients include any one who is suffering from muscular aches, pains or discomfort.  Sore backs and necks are the most common complaint. I have clients of both sexes, all ages and from all walks of life.  My oldest client is 86 and enjoys a really deep massage!  Although I have many sports people including runners, cyclists, tennis players, cricketers and golfers, these people are often also stressed commuters, teachers, dentists and office workers, too.  Plumbers, decorators, electricians, builders, carpenters and landscape gardeners are some of the people with manual professionals who visit me together with retired people, DIY and gardening enthusiasts.
