CPP is based in Buddhist Awareness practice, this sees the interconnection of all beings that develop a sense of separateness as the personality forms. It draws on Western theories of personality formation and various therapeutic skills to support bringing a mindful awareness of our present moment experience. This can help us to see through our limitations and allow a greater freedom in how we relate to others, ourselves and to our way of relating to the pressures and stress in our lives.
Within the intention of holding a compassionate, non-judgemental space, CPP invites a deep enquiry into the nature of our suffering. It recognises the sense of self in the present moment as the expression of all the patterns of our past experiences. How the past was re-acted, responded to and created a sense of who ‘I’ am.
Working with body, mind and spirit, combining Eastern and Western approaches to psychology, Core Process Psychotherapy can help us gain an understanding of what it is that creates our suffering. We can achieve greater confidence and freedom to choose how we wish to be by bringing an open awareness into the present moment.
