My name is Clare, I am a fully qualified Pilates teacher and I typically see clients in Beeston, Chilwell, Attenborough, Wollaton, Bramcote and Bilborough. Areas of Speciality
I teach Pilates in a way which very much embraces the original Joseph Pilates method. There is a strong focus in my sessions on developing good breathing patterns and engaging your mind with a calm concentration on perfect balance and posture during the exercises. I use positive visualisations during your session which helps you to perform the exercises correctly and achieve the full benefit from them both mentally and physically. I work with your mind as much as your body. I end my sessions with a deep relaxation in which I teach techniques for recognising tension creeping into the body and learning how to dissolve it away. Although I work my clients hard they say the sessions leave them feeling calm, positive and energised, almost all say they sleep much better on the evening after the session. Many tell me they have a feeling of general well being that lasts for a few days after the session and some that they can now engage in physical activities such as hill walking or even wind surfing which they would not have considered possible previously. All tell me they become more aware of their everyday posture and ways to improve it. It seems very helpful for those with back or joint problems and people suffering from stress and anxiety.


What to expect
My sessions are Mat based and use only the kind of equipment that everyone could have at home such as simple bands and blocks. This means you can practice all the exercises you learn at home. If you have your own mat bring it along, otherwise I always bring spare mats to my sessions. Wear comfortable clothing which you can move around in but avoid anything too baggy so that I can check your posture during exercises. The group sessions are carefully designed to be a balanced full body work out with an emphasis on strengthening core muscles and improving strength and flexibility in the back. Correct alignment of the spine and general framework of the body keeps these exercises safe but if you are working with injuries make sure you have had the go ahead from your medical advisor to practise Pilates. A 1-2-1 session is particularly beneficial in the following situation-
  • You have an injury and want to keep the rest of your body fit and healthy while you work on its recovery
  • You are a sports person aiming to strengthen your core and create balanced, physical strength throughout your body and a positive mental attitude to training and performing.
  • You are new to Pilates or have not exercised for a while and want a few sessions to build up your confidence before attending a class

About me
I have been practising Pilates for 7 years first of all for my own benefit and since my training which I completed almost 5 years ago also for the benefit of many others. I have practiced all different forms of exercise but Pilates has had the most pronounced beneficial impact on my physical and mental wellbeing. So I am genuinely passionate about Pilates because it cured my own problems with sciatica and aching joints and because I love the positive feedback I get from so many of my clients. Having continued to be very interested in the anatomy and physiology I studied in my Pilates training it has become clearer to me how and why Pilates works so well. It’s obvious when you think about it that addressing postural problems, learning exercise techniques that calm and balance your mind and developing improved breathing patterns can have a positive impact throughout the body. So many injuries and aches in the body are simply the long term effects of repeated bad posture and repetitive strain. This allows parts of our body to become weak and vulnerable over time.  I think Pilates offers a very effective way to heal and maintain your own body.
