About Me I qualified as a complementary therapist in 2000 after attaining student of the year at my training establishment. I then went on to set up my own practive in 2008. In 2009 I decided to specialise in maternity, fertility and well woman reflexology, undertaking and completing three seperate courses. In addition to my other therapies I now offer these specialised treatments. I am passionate about the therapies I offer and continue to update my skills. I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and hold recognised qualifications in all the therapies I offer. I treat client confidentiality as a priority. I work from a purpose built room in my garden, which offers a peaceful and comfortable place for my clients to enjoy their treatments.
About My Therapies REFLEXOLOGY: is a treatment which works on the principal that all the glands, organs and parts of the body are represented on the feet in the form of reflex areas. By applying a specialised massage technique to the feet it aims to relax, invigorate and re-balance the mind and body. Wonderfully relaxing, excellent for stress relief and can be very effective at treating specific health problems.
HOT STONE MASSAGE: A massage technique using volcanic stones, which are heated then used to massage the body. This can help relieve muscle tension and provide a deep sense of relaxation. The use of hot stones intensifies the results of the massage by penetrating deep into the muscles, making it five to ten times more effective than a normal massage.
MATERNITY REFLEXOLOGY: works on the same principles of reflexology (above) but uses some different and specialised tecniques. Having reflexology whilst pregnant is a wonderful tool to help bring about a calm and relaxed state. It can help relieve pregnancy related problems, anxiety and with regular treatments, there is evidence to suggest that it can reduce the length of labour and likelihood of interventions. Using specialised reflexology techniques, visualisations and undertaking a thorough consultation, a personal treatment plan will be formed.
POST-NATAL REFLEXOLOGY: After the physical and emotional stresses and strains of pregnancy and birth, reflexology can bring about (often much needed) calm. Along with the joys of a new baby, you can also feel tired, emotional, out of balance and physically drained. In addition, all the physical stresses occuring in pregnancy and birthing can cause problems. Using specialised reflexology techniques, visualisations and undertaking a thourough consultation I will aim to re-balance the body and give the body and mind time to relax.
FERTILITY REFLEXOLOGY: Reflexology is a great way of bringing the body and mind into balance before trying for a baby. Or if there are fertility problems, it can help re-balance the body which may help boost fertility. Using specialised reflexology techniques, visualisations and undertaking a thorough consultation to identify any problems, a personal treatment plan will be formed. Through the treatment I will apply specialised techniques aiming to balance the hormonal system, stimulate the reproductive system, work on any physical problems which have been discussed and generally balance all the systems of the body. The reflexology works to bring the body into balance, whilst relieving stress and anxiety. Reflexology can also work well prior to assisted conception, such as IVF. Before the hormone treatment begins, I would work on the reflex points, with the aim of re-balancing the body and relieving stress and tension, ready for the forthcoming treatment. Some clinics recommend reflexology prior to treatment.
HOPI EAR CANDLING: is a traditional treatment originating from the Hopi Indians. A special candle is inserted into the ear, the vibration created gently massages the ear drum, aiming to re-balance the inner ear, whilst stimulating blood and lymph flow. This can relieve stress, help with ear and sinus problems and bring about a relaxed state. The ear candling is followed by a neck, shoulder face and scalp massage, making it a wonderfully relaxing treatment.
NATURAL LIFT FACIAL MASSAGE: incorparates a blend of effective techniques drawn from Japanese Face Massage, Indian Face Massge, Accupressure and Facial Reflexology. The techniques involved can act as a natural face lift by improving the complexion, removing toxins, improving skin suppleness, reducing muscle tension in the shoulders, scalp, face and jaw. The treatment aims to reduce expression lines, reduce wrinkles, lift sagging skin, tone, tighten and rejuvenate the skin and reduce stress. A wonderfully relaxing treatment, which results in a feeling of well-being. For an optimum facial lift it is advised you have this treatment once a week for a minimum of 4 weeks, then as a maintenance treatment thereafter.
