It is for people who wish to improve personal performance. For people who seek relief from discomfort or pain - back problems, breathing issues, posture problems, RSI, Stress. For people who want to deal better with life\'s problems. For people who want to be more responsible for their own lives and wellbeing. For people wishing to feel better generally. About Me:
I have been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1992 and came to it as a way of dealing with whiplash injuries. I have a background in graphic design and management, with qualifications in counselling and business performance coaching, which means I understand the pressures facing people and the need for a no-nonsense approach.

I offer individual lessons, introductory workshops, talks and company training.

I am a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) having completed three years of training.

How the Alexander Technique is taught:

The Alexander Technique is usually taught on a one-to-one basis, lessons lasting between thirty and forty-five minutes.

Special clothing is not required as long as you have free movement. Working with simple activities such as walking, getting in and out of a chair and lying down, the teacher uses words and their hands to gently guide the pupil towards better co-ordination and alignment, while introducing the Alexander principles in interesting and practical ways. When you have become more self-aware and familiar with the process, you can go on to apply the Technique to improve everyday activities such as writing, working at a computer, driving, bending and lifting, and more specialised tasks such as playing a musical instrument, sports, public speaking - almost anything.

How often?

It may help at the beginning to have two or more lessons per week but as your skills increase, the frequency can be reduced. The aim is for you to be able to maintain good use for yourself and incorporate the Technique into your life. Regular practice at home and work greatly supports this learning process.

Getting started:

You can start with a single lesson to see how you get on. This is the most direct approach although occasionally I run introductory talks and workshops. Teachers We undergo three years full time training and should be a member of our professional body the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT), complying with their code of ethics and practice.
