What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy which means it works alongside your medicine and can help to alleviate side effects. Reflexology is carried out on the feet and lower legs using a special pressure massage technique which has a positive effect on the physical body. It works through the nervous system via the nerve reflexes on the feet. The feet are not the only place these nerve reflexes can be found but are a very accessible area for treatment. The client is made comfortable in a reclining chair and relaxing music played or they may chat or just relax quietly.

Pregnancy Reflexology and Post Natal Reflexology

Reflexology is becoming known for being effective in reducing labour time and even the amount of pain relief needed during labour. When your pregnancy is nearing the due date or beyond, a specially tailored reflexology treatment may be just what you need to prepare you for labour and frequently precipitates the onset of labour within 24-36 hours.
After your baby is born, reflexology can help to get your body back to normal more quickly and may even prevent post-natal depression as it helps to balance hormones. To help with this, reflexology can be carried out whilst you hold your baby if it is not possible to settle the baby for long enough while you have your treatment.

Each nerve root starting at the spinal cord supplies a different part of the body. When a person suffers from back pain this often means that the part of the body that is supplied by the particular nerve root may also be affected. Reflexology can identify and treat this.
Caroline incorporates her additional knowledge of spinal reflexology into treatments as necessary, which means she is able to target the nerve root reflexes that supply the various glands, organs and parts of the body as well as the particular reflexes themselves. This is carried out on the feet on the spinal reflex.
