I am married with a son, twin daughters and several grandchildren. I am a UKCP registered family psychotherapist and represented AFT as a member of the working party concerned with developing standards of practice for psychotherapists. I have practised family therapy for over 20 years in health service clinics for children and families as part of a multidisciplinary team. I am now in private practice.

For the last ten years I have been Hon. Consultant Family Therapist to the Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA) which prompted me to write 'Twins and the family', a parenting manual, also translated into Italian, based on my own research and clinical practice.

1999 saw the publication of my edited book 'Twin and Triplet Psychology' published in paperback and hardback.In 2002 I was invited to be a contributor to 'Sibling Rivalry' by Jan Parker and Jan Stimpson, published by Hodder and Stoughton. In 2007 I contributed a chapter to 'Untwinned' edited by Althea Hayton and published by Wren Publications in that year.

I am currently a professional advisor for Young Minds working as part of a team providing a professional telephone call back advice service to parents. I was an original member of the working party which set up the Young Minds UK Information Service Helpline. Young Minds is a UK organisation promoting child mental health.

I am a regular writer and broadcaster on 'multiple' and other issues. Recently contributing to an article in the 'Times' on 'Bring Back Bedtime' and an article in the 'Express' on Anxiety in young children. I also give lectures and seminars and have presented papers at International and national conferences. Most recently in 2007 at the 12th International Congress on Twin Studies in Ghent, Belgium, where I presented a case study on 'The Breakdown of an Intra-pair Relationship Between MZ Female Adult Twins'.

I am a member of the Association for Family Therapy & attend the twice yearly Surrey AFT workshops. I am also a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, Young Minds, The International Society for Twin Studies & the Twins and Multiple Births Association. I attend group supervision sessions at Young Minds and have personal supervision from a Surrey AFT peer group.


Consultations

Consultations are for approximately one hour. When working on children’s problems change occurs rapidly and does not usually require more than six sessions and is often less, particularly with under-fives. I usually see parents on their own for the first session and parents decide if they wish to bring their children for all or some of the sessions. Adult counselling is dictated by the client and can be brief or of longer duration according to their needs. A few appointments are available outside office hours if necessary.
