Making changes in your lifeIf you are reading this you are looking to make a change in your life, you are unhappy or unsettled with how things are at the moment and you are wondering if I might be the person to help you.
Change is something that we do to ourselves. We move home. Seek out a new job. We start to exercise to keep fit. We seek out a partner. Though yes we may make wrong choices, these are often positive changes because we feel the change is something we looked for and have some control over.
Change is also done to us. We are laid off at work. A partner dies. We become sick. A boyfriend, girlfriend leaves us. These usually feel like negative changes, the change is unexpected, uninvited can be fearful and can leave us feeling anxious and depressed. These changes can feel hard to cope with.
Ask yourself these questions- Do you feel unhappy with your behaviour?
- Do you see yourself stuck in a bad relationship?
- Are you very emotional and finding it difficult to cope with life?
- Is anxiety and depression a daily struggle?
- Do you have a phobia or compulsion?
- Have you been abused or traumatised?
- Do you have poor confidence in yourself?
- These are just some sample questions, there are many more and every problem needs a solution and to achieve this solution and to make changes in your life I am suggesting that you work with me.
- How can I as a counsellor and psychotherapist help you?
It can be hard to explain the process of counselling and psychotherapy. An important factor here is the relationship between you and me. As a qualified, accredited and experienced therapist it is my responsibility to make that relationship work, not yours. I will ask you many questions to understand what problems you are experiencing and what outcomes you want and then I will suggest a treatment programme. This might include talking therapy, NLP techniques which help with confidence, self -esteem, and EFT to use at home to help your-self with difficult or uncomfortable emotions. You may also be asked to do homework assignments such as a diary and CBT thought sheets. Yes it may seem like a lot of work but you are investing in me and I want you to get the best possible return.
As a therapist I have had my own therapy and I know what that felt like for me. At times it was hard, unsettling and upsetting, but I learned a lot about myself what I like about me, and what strategies can help make life and relationships easier and better.
My ongoing learning and my training never stops but I do this work because I have seen how it helps and changes people and I value my role in helping men and women make those positive changes.
At the moment the only thing you need to do is to give me a ring or give me your contact details and I will call you.
