About Nutritional TherapyWhat makes my Nutritional Therapy so successful?
1) My treatment will fit in with your lifestyleAfter advising the general public for 13 years, I know what is - and what is not, realistically possible - for most busy people who are juggling work and family pressures, when it comes to making changes to improve your health!
I will not ‘judge’ or ‘lecture’ you. Nobody, including myself, eats the perfect diet all of the time!
You set your own pace to improve your eating plan and lifestyle - you don’t have to make extreme changes if you don’t want to. If it is really urgent for you to reduce your intake of a specific food or drink, then I can help you find a tasty alternative instead. My patients say that I have a caring, professional manner and concisely explain my treatment strategy to them, using ordinary, non-technical language that they can understand.
2) I give you value for moneyI aim to give you as much advisory information as you want, including a
FREE 15 page pack of realistic and practical tips, shopping list, menu plans and recipe ideas to help you explore and enjoy a wider range of foods.
I also provide a
flexible arrangement of email and phone call support after consults, in case you have questions afterwards. I aim to empower you with the right info so you don’t need to spend £££’s on repeat visits to consult with me! Many of my patients have only needed 2 or 3 sessions to feel much better, as I have set them on the right path to achieve their goals and independently look after their health in the long-term.
3) I am very careful about safety and efficient treatment alongside medicationsI am not against medications – I have a massive appreciation for life-saving drugs. But it is important to
examine the pro’s and con’s of every drug to assess the risk/benefit ratio for each patient, and ensure that they you are fully informed about any potential side effects or long-term consequences. I will give you my professional opinion about your treatment choices, but I will always
support your own informed decisions about your health, and w
elcome liaison with your GP and any other health professionals, so that we can form a unified team to guide you to your goals.
4) I analyse each patient as a unique caseMy service is
not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Nutritional Therapy is a personalised analysis that examines exactly what has made you, become you. Two patients may have the same medical condition, but I may prescribe a different treatment strategy for each patient, depending on the different causative factors involved; how I expect their body to respond; and what medications they take.
5) I do not pressure you to buy productsThere is
no obligation to buy supplements or diagnostic tests at all. My main focus is on food as the cheapest, safest and most natural, long-term treatment. But you also will benefit from my long-term experience and
knowledge of the best supplement and food brands on the market, so you can spend your money wisely. I can also help you get a
10% discount off products, if you order through my referral to a mail order service.
About Me
I am "The Health Detective" My practice is called ‘The Health Detective’ - because I
piece together clues to solve the puzzles of your health problems. Paying attention to your signs and symptoms, helps me to identify which nutritional deficiencies and weaknesses of your organs, may be occurring in your body. I can find out a lot that you may not know about your body, just by talking to you and analysing your medical history.
This ‘detective work’ is why I love listening to people’s health histories, and spreading the word about the power of Nutrition for health. I also enjoy presenting
health talks to the public and charity groups, and writing health articles for the media.During 2011, I worked alongside and received specialist training by one of the UK’s leading Nutritionists - Dr
Marilyn Glenville, to use Nutritional Therapy to assist the management of Fertility and Female hormone disorders, and ‘Fat around the Middle’.
My clinical approach blends the best of both
traditional ‘Naturopathy’ and
modern ‘Functional Medicine’, using a
practical, personalised treatment strategy to ease unpleasant symptoms whilst endeavouring to address the possible underlying causes of your health problems – such as nutritional deficiencies or hormone imbalances.
My aim is to help you achieve ‘optimum health’ – for maximum mental and physical vitality, not just the ‘absence of disease’.

What to Expect
In your first of 2 sessions (1.5 hours total),
we will discuss your health concerns and goals; symptoms, medical diagnoses, investigations, test results, medications and surgeries; and family history. You will have filled out a questionnaire before our meeting, so you get the best value for money and makes the most from your consultation time with me, as I will be prepared and have already checked for safety with any medications.
You grade the severity/frequency of your symptoms on my
Progress Chart, and do this again when you return for your follow-up session. These records helps both of us to see what problems have improved or still need work. We discuss your typical
daily diet: what you like to eat and when – how it fits into your lifestyle of work schedule and family commitments.
If you do not have
medical test results, I may recommend that you ask your GP/medical consultant for specific tests that are appropriate to your case, or I can write to them on your behalf. If such necessary tests are not available from the NHS, I can then refer you for testing (blood, urine, saliva, sperm, etc) to do a test kit at home or attend a private laboratory in London, and you pay them directly. However, as such private tests can be costly, I tend to only recommend them if you do not respond adequately to my initial treatment, and deeper investigation is warranted to examine the biochemical obstacles to your recovery.
I explain my interpretation of your symptoms and likely causative factors, and together we discuss your treatment options to decide the best treatment strategy for you. My dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations are
not strict nor rigid. I always encourage you to make some changes, which are r
ealistically achievable, and at a pace that is comfortable for you. I give you personalised
Dietary, Lifestyle and Supplement prescriptions to take away, plus a free 15 page pack of practical advice about foods, supplements and meal-planning, that will support your unique needs, taste preferences and lifestyle.
After any consultation, I offer
ongoing phone and email support, to suit your needs. Please visit my website for further details about what to expect from a consultation.
