Risk to eyesight by being overweight
Wednesday 12th January, 2011
A new claim that overweight people are at a higher risk of developing eye conditions such as macular degeneration or cataracts has been made by a leading eye expert.
Chairman of the Eyecare Trust, Dharmesh Patel has commented that if overweight, you run the risk of suffering a sight-threatening eye condition and people should eat healthily and manage their weight to reduce the chances of developing vision loss.
The claim comes after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States gave approval for human stem cell treatment for patients with dry age-related macular degeneration.
