Fall in heart attacks where smoking bans exist

New research suggests that countries that have smoking bans in public places are likely to see a reduction in the number of heart attacks.
People living in smoke-free public places are exposed to less passive smoking than those who live in places where smoking in public is still permitted.
Researchers analysed 50 previous studies and found lower rates of heart attacks and improvements to health although the effects of smoking bans on rates of smoking were unclear.
