British adults are ‘too busy’ to exercise
Monday 8th February, 2010
New research has revealed that half of all adults in Britain are too busy to take regular exercise.
A survey conducted by the British Heart Foundation of 2,000 people found that 44 per cent of those polled simply didn’t have time to exercise.
Two-thirds stated that they were not doing the recommended 30 minutes of physical activity each day but 75 per cent felt they were healthy.
The survey also revealed that 93 per cent of those who did not exercise have at least one unhealthy habit such as smoking or binge-drinking.
Mike Knapton, director of prevention and care at the BHF, told the Daily Mail that the majority of people have a ‘disturbingly indifferent attitude’ towards exercise and healthy living.
“It’s extremely concerning that adults aren’t taking the initiative and setting the right example for children,” he added.
