Woman develops water allergy after childbirth
Tuesday 21st April, 2009
A woman from Walsall has developed aquagenic urticaria – an allergy to water – after giving birth to a son.
Michaela Dutton can only shower for ten seconds every week and cuddling her son has potential hazards due to his dribbles or tears
Moisture on her skin triggers a painful rash and only 30 people in the world are known to suffer with condition. The British Association of Dermatologists say there is no known cure.
Could Alternative Medicine and Complementary Therapy provide an answer to aquagenic urticaria?

My bf has it too. Every time he after a shower, it will show a big red rash on his back, but we always laugh that it looks like a dragon.

I have a case of Aquagenic Pruritis, a type of water allergy. I don’t have the physical breakout, but it feels like thousands of needles are stabbing me. I have found relief in taking Cimetidine everyday, which is actually a heartburn reliever, but it seems to work. Maybe it could work for you! Good luck!
