Physiotherapy joins new national fitness campaign
Tuesday 13th January, 2009
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) has joined the Government’s Change4Life campaign which aims to stop the growing obesity problem and help the nation get fit.
The CSP became an official partner of the campaign this month in an effort to prevent problems with health from poor diet and lack of activity.
With advertising running across all major media, the Change4Life commercials highlight the difficulties people are facing in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and without a change in attitude to diet and exercise the health of future generations is at threat.
The underlying problem is that nutrition and exercise are essential in order for people to live long and healthy lives and the campaign is one of encouragement rather than preaching.
Physiotherapy is based on the theory that the body requires movement and balance to maintain function and overall health. It is a proven therapy for overcoming conditions such as back pain, neck pain, arthritic pain, migraines and repetitive strain injuries (RSI) as well as helping patients manage conditions such as strokes, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
