Christmas could make you more intelligent
Wednesday 24th December, 2008
Christmas could increase your brain cells if the latest research is true. Not the festive period itself, but all the wine and chocolate that is consumed (and the odd cup of tea).
Researchers from Oxford and Norway have discovered that chocolate, wine and tea can enhance the brain’s performance as all three contain flavonoids – a substance reported to lower cases of dementia.
While moderate alcohol and chocolate intake may have an association to improved brain function, overdoing the booze can have an increased risk of developing dementia and excess sugary food carries a risk of weight gain.
Eat and drink in moderation this Christmas and have a healthy start to the New Year.
Merry Christmas!
