Can thinking about your job in a different way be enough to prevent you being unhappy at work? According to a new study from Canada it can, enough so as to reduce the number of sick days taken and increase turnover.
An intervention program used on health-care workers in Alberta was specifically designed to create action plans that will boost employees sense of purpose and appreciation of others. Researchers found that by thinking about and enhancing these aspects of the workplace, morale and job retention was increased and employees were left feeling happier, healthier and more productive.
The ‘Spirit at Work’ program used techniques similar to those used in the complementary therapy practice of Life Coaching.
Life Coaching uses a variety of methods to allow a person to achieve set goals that will improve their personal and professional life.
