High use of alternative medicine among cancer patients
Monday 4th August, 2008
Research carried out by the American Cancer Society has found that many cancer patients use complementary therapy and alternative medicine during their treatment.
Relaxation, herbal supplements, meditation, and massage are among the most popular alternative and complementary methods. The study highlighted that women, young people, and those with higher incomes were more likely to use alternative medicine and complementary therapy.
The study confirms results from previous surveys that found cancer patients use the same complementary methods used among the general population and among people with other chronic diseases.
