Homeopathy remedies

Homeopathy remedies videoHomeopathy is a natural therapy for healing that utilises substances from extracts, minerals and salts. The substances used in small and pure quantities help the body to heal itself using natural energy.

Here, a homeopath explains how the remedies are made and what the homeopathic remedies are made from. The video also explains how potent the remedies can be and how you should take the medicine.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy for many people is one of those mystery medicines and we don’t learn a lot about the foundations and the basics or concepts of homeopathy in our schools although we do learn about western conventional medicine.

In homeopathy the remedies are made from just about anything that you would find in nature. This might include the plant, the animal or the mineral kingdom. If they’re plants they may be lichen, a fungus (poisonous or non-poisonous) – poisonous being highly medicinal. They might be coniferous plants like a juniper or just a deciduous plant like an Elm tree or any other kind of plant you might find.

Animal remedies might include spiders or insects, tissues like feathers or scales or even secretions like snake venom, or cuttlefish eggs which is a very well known remedy. And even bacteria, protozoans, amoebas are well used.

If we are talking minerals we are talking about a gas of some kind, salts, minerals rocks and gem stones- diamond, ruby and more simple rocks like calcium carbonate.

How to make a homeopathy remedy

Now to make a remedy you need the original material, a sample of that original substance to start with and you basically need to solubilise it and make it into very fine particles and this is done with a process known as Trituration, which is essentially grinding up the substance with a bit of lactose. Lactose being milk sugar and being considered inert.

So you grind a few times and make a dilution of the original substance. And then from that dilution, it’s a solid dilution, you would dissolve it in some water and shake it up vigorously. This is known as Succussion.

And from there we can proceed and we proceed by making serial dilutions, so we would take one part of the substance and you dilute that in nine parts of some other material, lactose or liquid and then that gives you a 1x or one in ten.

You do that with one part of the substance and ninety nine parts of the diluting substance that will give you a 1C, a one in one hundred. Now if you dilute the 1C and take a sample of that and ninety nine parts of the diluting substance and agitate or titrate it that would give you 2C. If you do that again, another sample, one part of that diluted substance and ninety nine more parts of some kind of mixture, water or lactose and succuss it or grind it up again that gives you a 3C. So if you did that several times, 27 more times actually you would get a 30C so this point is highly dilute and some people do make their own remedies and you can imagine its very labour intensive.

We commonly use, as homeopaths, 1M potencies, which is one part in a hundred serially diluted one thousand times. This is considered to be quite potent and once you have your liquid its either a 1M or a 200C or a 30C usually you can inoculate some blank lactose pellets with that substance and you can either take the liquid or you can take the pellets.

You would generally take them orally, liquid or pellets – just take them under the tongue to dissolve or get absorbed. If you are very sensitive you may be instructed to inhale the air coming off of the liquid or surrounding the pellets. And if you touch the pellets or spill some of the liquid on you that in effect is giving yourself a dose and if you are very sensitive just being close to the remedies even in closed phials will affect you.

Now there is the issue of potency, one of the more controversial aspects of homeopathy because it doesn’t make sense to us from everything we know about our material world. How can something that has been diluted one thousand times serially be more potent than something that’s only been diluted say three times.

Well we are not talking about bio-chemistry we are talking about bringing out the essence of a substance,.the more subtle aspects, and you do this by dilution. There are studies showing the more dilute a substance is the more it has the capacity to pattern water and homeopathy is a pattern or a vibrational medicine. So when we bring up the essence what we are actually doing is not only making it less toxic or non-toxic but we are making it subtle and yet distinctly profound.

What’s the difference between natural medicine and conventional medicine?

So how this medicine differs from the medicine that your doctor may give you if he’s prescribing pharmaceuticals is that homeopathy doesn’t work in a bio-chemical, typical mechanistic type of model. It works on a level that’s deeper than that. It will ultimately affect the bio-chemical chemistry and physiology but it doesn’t do so directly, it does so by affecting the pattern that’s stuck fixed in the person that is holding the unhealthy bio-chemistry and physiology in place.

How the medicine actually works is not known, science has not yet caught up with homeopathy. Homeopathy is not a religious view, it is not based on faith you don’t need to believe in it in order for it to work for you. Some of the most staunch supporters of homeopathy started out as people trying to discredit the medicine and then realised it was actually a very profound mechanism for healing people. It works on a level that is deeper than the biochemistry and ultimately will affect the biochemistry and will help normalise lab results
