homeopathy therapy Case Study Curing eczema with HomeopathyHomeopathy curing eczema

In 1996 I suffered an emotional trauma and my skin broke out in angry red patches overnight. I looked as if I had been in a fire. My GP referred me to a consultant dermatologist who carried out dozens of allergy tests and concluded that I was allergic to various chemicals and perfumes which he said I should avoid in the future
. and in the interim I was to use a steroid cream.

I was angry – all this consultant had done was to diagnose the symptoms of eczema rather than their cause, tell me what I already knew from first hand experience about the chemicals and perfumes, and offer me treatment that would thin my skin and only appease the situation for as long as I was prepared to use it.

In desperation I went to see a homeopath who treated me for more than a year – and cured the problem. Perhaps it was the fact that I had a violent skin reaction following every increase in the dosage that made me believe he was reaching the root cause, and for that reason I stuck it out. To this day I carry a photograph of what I looked like before the treatment started, just to remind myself on a black day of how much worse life could be.

Then in 2005 it happened again and the eczema returned. And again it was after a prolonged period of stress. I tried various health store remedies for stress related eczema which didn’t work. I cut out various foods but there was no improvement. I tried to contact the homeopath I had been to previously but he had gone abroad to set up a homeopathic clinic. I telephoned and emailed one or two other homeopaths but was not impressed by what they said. It was a scary time because despite the success of my previous treatment I was still sceptical about the homeopathic industry and believed there to be a large number of “quacks” out there.

After three months my skin was so dried out that, apart from the hideous red marks around my neck, chest and back, I was embarrassed that everywhere I went I left flakes of my skin behind. Moisturiser didn’t work, many types I was allergic too. My computer keyboard was clogged up with skin, I had to vacuum my chair seat every day and I couldn’t wear any dark clothes. Then it crept into my scalp and my hair started to fall out. And the more stressed I got about the situation, the worse the symptoms became.

Homeopathy treatment for skin conditions

Eventually I went to the GP who once more offered to refer me to a dermatologist to help with my severe eczema. I declined. I was at the point of total despair when a friend told me about a local Homeopath. She had given a Homeopathy talk to a women’s that someone my friend knew had attended. The homeopath had subsequently cleared a skin problem on this lady’s hands. With nothing to lose but the very meagre consultation fee I decided to make an appointment.

When the door was opened by a quietly spoken, unassuming woman who invited me through her sitting room, into her back parlour, clearing away a used coffee cup and a pile of papers from the table I was to sit at, I thought, ‘Oh well

.”. But during the ensuing hour long interview I was amazed at the questions she asked and the knowledge she exuded as she studiously referred to and cross referenced several thick tomes.

At the end of the session the homeopath gave me a small phial with a dropper and told me to take so many drops in water three times a day. She felt she would need to see me again in precisely four weeks. On the Sunday morning, thirty six hours later, I was in such a state that I almost phoned her – only stopping myself because it was a Sunday. My face had swelled up and the redness was so angry you could feel the heat coming from it at a foot away.

But remembering my previous homeopathic experience I decided to wait a day or so and see what happened. Twenty four hours later it was looking better. That was the starting point and it got better and better
..until at the end of the month exactly it took a turn for the worse. I went for my next homeopathy appointment, disappointed. However my practitioner wasn’t at all surprised; she had known the dose would only work for a month. And so she increased the dose and sent me off for another month.

Eczema and other skin conditions benefit from Homeopathy

It took four months before I was totally cured of my skin condition (eczema) , but once again homeopathy “did it for me”. My skin is wonderful, my scalp is clear, my hair has grown back. But, best of all, my confidence has returned.

exactly the same story runs with my son , who was in infantile age . The whole body was covered with scabs oozing thick gluten moisture , offensive at many times. The scene was too much horrible. But thanks to my family doctor though he was allopath yet he comes over his limitations , accepted them & referred my son to a competent homeopath . In a long course of treatment he is now finally cured . He’s now 17 years , since then I have always put him on homeopathic treatment & found the treatment always effective … no drug dependency & no adverse reactions .

Interesting story on curing eczema with homeopathy. I guess the main issue is really where someone can find a qualified homeopath. It seems the issue would have been fixed much quicker if people know where to find a good homeopath.

It’s glad to hear that eczema can be cured by homeopathy. But, may I know the process of it? Will it be very painful in the course of the treatment before it gets well?

My daughter who has eczema since birth has been undergoing the treatment of hoemopathy for more than 3 months, but the result is not very satisfactory. She is now going to 6 years old. The eczema is getting worse after taking the remedies. The homepath asks be to be patient.

What she is taking now is Sepia 30C (3 pieces x 4 times/ day). Apart from this, she is taking probiotics, Bach flower essence, flax and phaffia rhodozyma (quite a lot, right?)

Please share your experience. She is really suffering and haven’t been slept well since April this year.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Joanne,

Sorry to hear your daughter is in so much discomfort with her eczema. Your Homeopath is correct when they say to be patient. Conventional treatments for eczema such as hydrocortisone creams usually give instant relief and so we are used to seeing results quickly when treating a skin condition such as eczema. Homeopathy however takes a little time and it is essential that you realise the process will not happen overnight.

If she has been undergoing treatment for 3 months then that can be around half way through the average time that it takes for a child to benefit from homeopathy for eczema. Some infants and children take up to six months – adults can take a year or more.

Perseverance can provide a long lasting cure to the problem so stick with it. Are you in touch with your GP over this treatment? It is beneficial to have collaboration between GP and Homeopath so that prescribed treatments from either party are not interfering with the other.

The Homeopathy process should not be painful but some people do suffer side-effects from certain remedies. If so, it is important that you let your Homeopath know. The hardest part of treating eczema is of course the itching of the skin and stress that the condition causes. Consult with your Homeopath on ways to ease the itching and relax your daughter whenever possible so she doesn’t get too stressed by the condition (easier said than done we know).

You could try giving her an oatmeal bath. Form a bag using clean cloth and wrap up a cup of oatmeal inside it. Place the bag under the running water as you draw a bath and swirl the bag around in the bath water too. Squeeze and rub the wet bag over your daughter’s skin because the oatmeal can soothe inflamed and dry skin.

Whenever possible, don’t let your daughter’s skin dry out too much. Don’t let her sit in a bath for too long or stand under the shower for too long. This can remove natural oils from the skin. After washing, apply a non-allergenic cream so moisture is locked in.

Any eczema affected areas of your daughter’s skin should not be exposed to the air too often. Half an hour in the sun can be beneficial for inflammation but avoid lengthy exposure to sunlight as this will make it worse.

Soft cotton clothing that is soap free is the best type to wear. Use non-biological powders and detergents which are gentle. You could give her clothes, towels and flannels a second rinse to make sure any soaps are removed.

Your daughter may have other food and environmental allergies. Consider an allergy intolerance test to rule out any other problems.

    Hope this information helps you.

Thanks for your comments. Hope that the process won’t be too long for her. It’s really heart-breaking to see her having new wound with fresh blood every morning.

Having been applying jojoba oil on her and hope it relieves her pain. Have you heard of sweet almond oil? It appears to be able to relieve itchiness, anti-inflammation.

Will the scars resulting from eczema be long-lasting, her wounds becomes so red and I am very hesitant to put on steroid.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Joanne,

Many cases of eczema clear up by the time children turn into teenagers and the good news is that if the condition can be brought under control for long enough then scarring can recede or disappear altogether.

  8. Keryl Howells Says:

I am in the same situation as Joanne – my daughter is 4 and has had eczema since the age of 3 months – we went to see a homeopath last week and her skin is the worse its ever been – I can’t control the dryness and she is bleeding because she is scratching so much – I hope it’s the case of it’s got to get worse before it gets better. It is heartbreaking to see and hear her crying because of her skin.

  9. admin Says:

    Hi Keryl,

Hopefully the advice we gave to Joanne will go some way to easing your worries. However, do contact your Homeopath if you have further concerns.

    Best wishes
