Helping Allergies With NLP

Most people have experienced an allergic reaction to something during their life. For many people an allergy is a constant burden to live with whether it’s the annual bout of hay fever, a nut allergy or a persistent allergic reaction to a family pet. NLP could provide a drug-free way of overcoming your allergy. Wouldn’t it be great to enjoy the summer and the smell of flowers and freshly cut grass? Imagine going food shopping without having to examine all the ingredients for possible allergens or having the chance to cuddle that much-loved cat or dog without sneezing and coughing. NLP can tap into your immune system and break the allergy cycle.

Allergies are an exaggerated reaction by our immune system to things that are considered harmless. Although some reactions can be life-threatening, allergy symptoms are generally mild and typically people suffer with sneezes, coughs, watery eyes, itchy skin and mouth, rashes and breathlessness. The symptoms of an allergy are the immune system’s way of defending itself when it believes it is under attack. NLP looks to reprogram the immune system so it realises that allergens can’t actually harm the body. NLP is a fast and effective way to banish allergies so you’ll never again have to stock up on those anti-histamines.

Curing allergies with NLP

NLP can change the immune system through imagination. NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, uses practical techniques to help you try and retrain the immune system to behave how you want it to. One tool that is at your disposal is your own imagination. Your body’s chemical make-up changes everyday, sometimes without you ever being aware of it. This is a common NLP process that takes place even when what is happening before us isn’t actually real. For example, when reading a book or watching a TV programme or film you have a reaction to it. Sometimes these fictional works can make you laugh or cry even though you are fully aware they are made-up. This is your imagination affecting the body’s chemistry. So, NLP takes that same process to help with allergies. By ‘imagining’ something like a film, NLP can alter the chemistry and teach the immune system to behave as you want it to.

A common allergy is to pollen. Using NLP techniques, a practitioner will help you to visualise ‘another you’ through a protective pane of glass or within a cinema screen. The NLP practitioner will get you to see yourself in a perfect situation but where you may be in contact with your allergen. You will then imagine yourself smelling flowers or petting an animal but without any of the usual symptoms associated with your allergy. In fact, your NLP visualisation of what’s taking place is in fact perfect. You can breathe more easily and enjoy every moment without fear of an allergic reaction. As you are doing this, the NLP process that takes place is retraining your immune system to act in an appropriate way. Your imagination is controlling the chemistry just as it did when you read the sad book or laughed at the comedy film.

As well as visualisation and imagination techniques, NLP also helps you to identify the root cause of your allergy and when it may have developed. Educating your mind about the reason behind your allergy is an important part of NLP because with hindsight you can alter how your body should have reacted at that critical time.

NLP techniques for allergies have been used for a number of years and proved to be effective and successful. While not all allergies can be treated, the common reactions and intolerances from pollen, pets and foods along with many others can be overcome with NLP.
