Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain is the term used for pain that is felt in abdominal area as a result of conditions that affect organs within the abdominal cavity (stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas and gallbladder).

Pain in the abdomen is typically felt anywhere from the lower section of the ribs to the pelvic bone. Abdominal pain can also be a result of problems outside of the abdominal cavity such as in the liver, lower lungs, kidneys or uterus. Abdominal pain can also be caused by contraction of the muscles and tissue surrounding the abdominal wall (often termed stomach cramps).
